Brittney Carr, M.S. CCC-SLP has been practicing in the state of Florida since 2016. Originally from the Midwest, she attended the University of Missouri for her B.H.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and then went to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center for her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology. While in Tennessee, she met her husband of 8 years. They welcomed their first child in 2021.
Brittney knew from her freshman year of college that she wanted to be an SLP who worked with the D/deaf and hard-of-hearing population. Language is her passion, and this area of the field also highly relates to language and literacy disorders, such as dyslexia. She stays well-versed in current research in these two areas (and the rest!) and loves to talk about language development whenever she gets the chance.
Brittney's professional career started at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. There, she also discovered and practiced her love of diagnostic testing. Without proper diagnostics, therapy is not as efficient! She also covered shifts at the local VA home, keeping her medical experience fresh. She has been an invited speaker for the Jacksonville Area Speech Pathology Association, led trainings for her team, and provided written content to TheInformedSLP.com. She formally started Historically Speaking in 2021 to continue to meet the needs of her community while also prioritizing her family.
